It was the best of times, it
was the worst of times… this was the summer of our discontent… (errr… and my apologies for
the headline).
The summer of 2001 marked a remarkable
period in the lives of the TRC leavers group. Not only were we tested by
the last ever year of the A-level system, not only would some of us move
away forever, not only would we never have to wonder about that woman in
KFC ever again…..Students were outraged by the continuation of building
work on the sports hall extension which made exams in the main venue (the
Sports Hall itself) noisy, and even less pleasant than we had feared. A
brave group took up the challenge of suspending the work, achieving
acknowledgement of the problems and roping me in to help….. Needless to say the events have left a bitter taste in
many mouths (and not just the dust from the site, either). Below are links to
articles telling the story of our summer of discontent, brought together
for the first time. They are listed in chronological order as to original
publishing date.
